A 29-year-old woman has been arrested by the police in Limassol for allegedly securing credit amounts from electronic credit card machines at three stores. The Germasogeia Police Station is handling the theft cases, with investigations revealing evidence against the suspect. She was located and arrested shortly before 9:30 PM yesterday and is currently in custody for further investigation.
The Police arrested a 16-year-old individual in connection to ongoing car theft investigations in the Famagusta district, bringing the total number of apprehensions to four. The arrest was made to aid in the investigations, which revealed the involvement of several individuals in car theft cases in Ayia Napa between May 25th and May 30th, 2024. Another case involving the 16-year-old and an 18-year-old in Larnaca is also under investigation. Arrest warrants were issued against the 18-year-old and the 16-year-old following evidence collected by the Larnaca Police Department. The suspects appeared before the Famagusta District Court and were ordered to be detained for four days. The investigations by the Ayia Napa Police Station and the Larnaca Police Department are ongoing.
President Nikos Christodoulides is in contact with the UN peacekeeping force regarding 13 migrants reported to be living in the buffer zone near the university grounds. The migrants are from Afghanistan, Iran, Sudan, and Cameroon and had come from the north after being denied entrance to the state-controlled areas. The UN peacekeeping force is working with UNCHR to provide humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable migrants.
A 16-year-old child from Paphos was caught by police driving almost twice the speed limit. He was driving at 92kph on a road with a speed limit of 50kph, and was found to have neither a driving licence nor car insurance.
A 30-year-old man was rescued after falling into an 80-meter ravine while riding his motorcycle in Limassol. The man contacted police for help and was located by officers from Kalo Chorio Police Station. Firefighters were called in to safely extricate him from the steep and deep ravine. An ambulance crew examined the man at the scene and found he did not need further medical attention.

Dimitris Andronikou, also known as “Dimitroui,” passed away at Nicosia General Hospital after being shot three times in an attempted attack. He had been in critical condition since the incident on April 23 in Anthoupoli. Andronikou was visiting friends detained as suspects in the arson of two betting shops in Nicosia when the attack occurred.
A 49-year-old maths teacher has been remanded in custody for eight days in Nicosia for two cases of sexual harassment involving underage female pupils aged 16 and 13. The 16-year-old reported that the teacher touched her thigh and breast during a lesson, while the 13-year-old also filed a complaint leading to the suspect’s arrest. The suspect’s detention order expires on May 28, with the possibility of renewal for further investigations.
