Turkish Cypriot farmers smashed the gate of the ‘prime minister’s’ office and burnt hay bales in front of the building during their protest against the government’s decision to import meat from the Netherlands and low prices for their products.

Twelve vehicles were extensively damaged by a fire outside a car repair shop in Kaimakli, Nicosia. The fire broke out at 5:37am and the car body shop was closed at the time. Fire fighters responded with four fire trucks and used water transfers and breathing equipment to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire will be investigated later.
