The Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) supports startups and scaleups that have introduced innovative products and services, secured funding from business angels and venture capital firms, and expanded their reach internationally.
Engaging voters in thinking through the difficult questions of the Cyprus problem could break the current deadlock and bring political leaders back to the negotiating table, according to a workshop organized by the Cyprus Peace and Dialogue Centre. The event focused on a “deliberative democracy” approach to update the peace process, with the goal of gaining public support for a sustainable solution. Panelists discussed options for assemblies, including citizen, elected, and constitutional assemblies, as well as the importance of starting with small “safe spaces” before moving on to larger assemblies. Despite the deadlock, only 20% of voters completely reject the idea of a bizonal bicommunal federation, indicating that engaging citizens could potentially help break the impasse.
The 27th edition of the Cultural Festival of the University of Cyprus is taking place at Axiothea Mansion in old Nicosia from June to July. The festival will feature performances by local and international artists from various countries, including Cyprus, Bulgaria, England, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Portugal. The festival will include recitals, dance performances, literature and poetry evenings, theatre productions, and more.
The Light Works Festival 2024 will take place in Larnaca on June 8 and 9 at the Tree of Life Centre. The festival will feature workshops, classes, and activities focused on wellness, including yoga, qigong, emotional resilience, drumming, tarot readings, and craft workshops for children. The Contemporary Dance Festival in Cyprus will feature seven performances in Limassol and two in Nicosia from May 31 to June 23. The festival collaborates with the Cyprus New Movement of Dance to host a workshop on physical theatre exploration led by choreographers Eliana and Borna on June 17.
