Turkish Cypriot farmers threatened to “break down the doors” of the north’s ‘prime minister’s’ office if the three men arrested during a protest earlier in the day are not released.
Two men, aged 22 and 62, were arrested in Nicosia for drug possession. The 22-year-old was found with 10 grams of cocaine in his car and 8 grams of cannabis, while a search of his residence revealed 90 grams of cocaine and 60 grams of cannabis. The 62-year-old was found with a half-smoked cigarette containing cannabis and a crusher with traces of cannabis.
Two men arrested in Limassol on suspicion of money laundering were freed after their latest remand expired. The 34-year-old suspect admitted to receiving envelopes from the other suspect and delivering them to various locations. The amount of cash found on the 34-year-old suspect amounted to €161,425.
Three men, aged 30, 28, and 24, were arrested and remanded for eight days in Nicosia, suspected of aiding and abetting people smuggling along the Green Line. They were caught loading suitcases into a car near the Green Line. When signaled by the police to stop, they attempted to flee but crashed into a wall. The two younger men were found to be illegally in the Republic of Cyprus, while the 30-year-old was arrested for aiding illegal entry into the state’s territory.
