Man admits to cannabis charges in Paphos court

A 29-year-old man admitted to charges of importing and possession with intent to supply 28 kilograms of cannabis, as well as money laundering from illegal activities. He was arrested at Paphos airport on January 31 after police found the drugs in his bags. The state lab confirmed the seized packages contained cannabis. The man has been in custody since his arrest. The case will resume on June 20, and the court has ordered that he remains in custody until then.

A 26-year-old man was arrested by the Police in Limassol to assist in an ongoing investigation of serious bodily harm inflicted in February. The man was driving a vehicle with a 32-year-old co-driver when they were stopped by the police after a pursuit. The driver was found with heroin in his possession and was arrested for drug possession, while the co-driver was arrested for unlawful presence in Cyprus. Further investigations revealed a pending warrant for the driver’s arrest related to the February 2024 case of bodily harm. The Limassol CID is handling the investigation.

Two men, aged 27 and 35, were sentenced to 15 and nine years in prison for drug trafficking, drug possession, and money laundering. The 35-year-old’s property worth €48,900 was also seized. The crime took place on July 31, 2023, when 27kgs of cannabis and 12kgs of cocaine were seized during a raid by the Paphos drug squad.

Two men, aged 22 and 62, were arrested in Nicosia for drug possession. The 22-year-old was found with 10 grams of cocaine in his car and 8 grams of cannabis, while a search of his residence revealed 90 grams of cocaine and 60 grams of cannabis. The 62-year-old was found with a half-smoked cigarette containing cannabis and a crusher with traces of cannabis.
