A 46-year-old man from Paphos has been charged with carrying out an arson attack on a car in the village of Ayia Varvara near Paphos’ industrial area and Yeroskipou. The fire occurred on March 12 at around 3.30am, resulting in the complete destruction of the car. The man’s trial is set to begin on Monday, and he will remain in custody until then.
A fire broke out in Liopetri, in the Famagusta district, burning one hectare of unharvested crops and wild vegetation. It took three fire trucks and five firefighters 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and arson has not been ruled out.

A 46-year-old man was rearrested by police following evidence related to twelve cases of arson targeting residences and vehicles in the area of Strovolos in Nicosia between July 2023 and February 2024.
