Police operation sees illegal residents arrested
A total of 21 people living in Cyprus illegally were arrested on Sunday in a combined operation in Nicosia, Limassol, and Larnaca. The operation involved police, the department of migration, and the committee for controlling migrant flows, and took place between 5am and 12 noon. During the operation, a large number of foreigners had their papers checked, leading to the arrests. The individuals arrested were taken to the Menoyia holding centre, and procedures to repatriate them began. Since the beginning of the year, 2,475 people living in Cyprus illegally have been repatriated.
