Fact: The fire brigade were called out to a total of 120 fires across Cyprus on Easter Saturday night, with a large proportion of them linked to the Easter “lambradjia” bonfire tradition.
The Fire Service responded to 43 incidents in the past 24 hours, including 25 fires. The most significant fire occurred near the villages of Akaki and Deneia in the Nicosia district, affecting an area of one square kilometre and damaging dry grass, wild vegetation, eucalyptus trees, electricity poles, and irrigation hoses.
