A 23-year-old driver was remanded in custody for four days after running over and killing a 77-year-old woman in the village of Kokkinotrimithia. A 77-year-old woman named Eleni Stavrinidou from Kokkinotrimithia passed away after being hit by a car in a hit-and-run accident. The incident took place on Eirinis and Filias Street around 6:00 am. The driver, a 23-year-old man, fled the scene but later turned himself in to the police. Stavrinidou was taken to Nicosia General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The cause of her death will be determined by a forensic autopsy. Police are urging anyone with information about the collision to come forward.
