France on highest anti-terrorist alert for the holidays – New attack averted

Five people, all men aged between 20 and 23, were arrested in three different cities in a geographical department in the east of France

In eastern France, the anti-terrorist service made five arrests for planning a terrorist attack. The Minister of the Interior made a recommendation to the police authorities to monitor especially the demonstrations and buildings of a religious nature during the holidays. French authorities also arrested passengers on a plane with 303 Indians following an anonymous complaint of human trafficking. The Romanian plane, on its Dubai-Nicaragua flight, stopped for refueling at Vatry airport in eastern France.

Five people, all men aged between 20 and 23, were arrested in three different cities in a geographical department in the east of France. The police believe that they were preparing a terrorist attempt organized in a group. As the correspondent of ERT, Thomais Papaioannou, said, it is perhaps the first time in a long time that we see a group of all men intending to "strike" a place in France.

All those arrested appear to be Islamists while one of the men is said to have already been known to the secret services of a foreign country.

Regarding the plane with the Indian passengers it is noted that it stopped at a very small airport in eastern France.

Two people, who are not members of the crew, were arrested and a lot of cash and a lot of passports were found in their possession.

The authorities have 26 days to find out what is going on while there are suspicions after an anonymous complaint was made that there is illegal human trafficking. Most likely these Indians left Dubai with the intention of possibly crossing into the United States, although their visas and passports are considered legitimate.
