5000 square meters park with high security standards
Limassol welcomes its new social hub – the City Skate Park in Germasogeia behind Del Mar!
The new space, donated to the city, will be open to the public from today, December 23rd, without an entrance ticket. The visionary idea and implementation of this project comes from Alexey Gubarev, entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist, together with Anna Gubareva, founder and CEO of the charity City Friends Club.
The City Skate Park, spread over 5,000 square meters, is a fresh cultural space for children and adults. Carefully designed and equipped it offers ramps, bowls, pump tracks – more than 36 elements in total to develop the skills of skateboarders.
The City Skate Park is among the 10 largest skateparks in Europe. She is tagged @city.skate.park on Instagram.
Its design meets Olympic standards, taking into account the inclusion of skateboarding in the 2020 Olympic Games. It is the first professional-level skate park for large-scale training and competition in Cyprus – something that was badly needed. In addition, safety is paramount here: every child must wear a helmet, an uncompromising rule at the park. There is plenty of room for both beginners and advanced skaters.
As our correspondent in Limassol, Yiannis Pazouros, wrote to "P", the Municipality of Germasogeia had previously carried out a public consultation and presentation of the project, receiving very positive comments from the local community, while the appropriate one has been issued by the planning permission legislation. At the moment the space will operate mainly on a trial level, while in the coming months other infrastructure will be added by the Municipality of Germasogeia, such as a cafeteria.
The City Skate Park is located at the junction of Aktaeus – Pervolas streets, on the Germasogeia River. The "soft opening" will take place on Saturday, December 23, 2023, and there will be food and music for everyone!
The park was built with an investment of 1.3 million euros. The success and implementation of this project would not have been possible without the financial support that came from the following:
