Yesterday, the police arrested a 40-year-old resident of Larnaca to assist with investigations into a suspected car arson case that occurred in the early hours of 25th March 2024 in Larnaca.
Evidence against the 40-year-old emerged during the investigation of the case, based on which a judicial arrest warrant was issued against him. This morning, the 40-year-old appeared before the Larnaca District Court, which issued an eight-day detention order against him.
The fire in the car broke out around 2:15 a.m. on 25th March while the vehicle was parked in an open area next to the home of its 41-year-old owner in Aradippou. Firefighters extinguished the fire, which completely destroyed the vehicle.
Subsequent examinations revealed that the fire was deliberately set.
