The big carnival parade is underway in Limassol, where thousands of citizens from all over Cyprus flocked to enjoy the festivities.More than 120 groups are participating in the parade with the total number of carnivalists exceeding 30 thousand.The parade takes place along Makarios Avenue and will end at the Polekidia Traffic Lights (Fairways).The parade started at 1 pm with the parade of the cantors and cheerleaders of the Cyprus Drivers’ Corps, the Batukino Percussion Group, the Limassol Cheerleaders and the Limassol Municipality Philharmonic Orchestra.This was followed by the Queen “the jewel of the Mediterranean” Christiana Charalambous with her impressive float and her entourage, which set the tone for the hour-long celebration. During the carnival parade, the Limassol Municipality honors citizens for their valuable contributions to the Limassol Carnival.The Limassol Carnival will conclude at 9.00 pm with the Outdoor Carnival Dance at the Old Port Square.
