SiTime has introduced a new line of chips called Chorus, which can provide 10 times more precision than older timing chips. The company aims to help customers save electricity by using these chips, as they require less than a watt of power compared to powerful AI chips that require over 1,000 watts. The more precise clock provided by SiTime’s chips allows parts of a computer to be turned off for short periods when not in use, resulting in potential energy savings for data centres over time.
