FIKOS: Me and My Monkey

Fikos is hosting his second solo exhibition at The Edit Gallery titled “Me and My Monkey” from May 24th to June 22nd. The exhibition explores the conflict between modern social norms and primal instincts, symbolized through hybrid creatures in his artwork. Fikos’ unique style combines elements of Byzantine art, graffiti aesthetics, and contemporary expressionism, inviting viewers to contemplate the evolution of human consciousness and the struggle with our primitive instincts.

Cypriot chip shop owner in row over mural

A Cypriot fish and chip shop owner in London has been ordered by Greenwich council to paint over a mural on the side of his shop, which features the Union flag and humanoid fish, along with the phrase ‘A Great British Meal’. The council deemed the mural an “unauthorised advert” following complaints. The owner, Chris Kanizi, has been running the Golden Chippy for 20 years and disputes the claim that people have complained about the mural. This is not his first dispute with the council, having previously clashed over a sign. The restaurant was named London’s top-rated restaurant on TripAdvisor in 2016. Kanizi plans to keep the mural, valued at £250, for as long as possible.
