Cyprus gets in carnival rhythm
The island celebrated a carnival mood on Sunday with celebrations centered in Limassol, described as having a parade second only to Rio’s. The Limassol parade, concluding ten days of carnival events, began at 1pm from the Ayios Nikolaos roundabout and ended at the Polemidia traffic lights, featuring the Municipality band, majorettes, the Batukino ensemble, floats, and others in costumes. In Famagusta, a parade started at 2pm from the B primary school in Paralimni, moving along Protaras Avenue and Ayios Georgios. A parade in Peyia began at 3pm, passing along the village’s central street.
