KOAP: 29,000 of the 29,500 applications for 2023 hectare subsidies have been paid

The processing of the Unified Application for External Subsidies 2023 has been completed, with 29,000 out of approximately 29,500 applications being paid. The remaining applications are still pending due to errors and deficiencies that need to be thoroughly studied and processed gradually. The Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organization (KOAP) has largely followed the announced schedule for subsidy payments. Despite the introduction of several modifications in the new Programming Period, KOAP has managed to adapt its systems appropriately and process the applications correctly. The subsidies have been paid with minimal exceptions, and there is no significant delay in their disbursement. The primary sector includes not only crop producers but also all sectors of agriculture and animal husbandry.

The Cyprus Medical Association is waiting for the court's decision in order to follow the necessary procedures according to the law. The association can impose penalties such as reprimand, fines, or even revocation of the medical license on a doctor who has been convicted again for indecent assault against a patient. The case will be presented to the Disciplinary Council and then assigned to an investigating officer. The process requires the appointment of an investigating officer even if there is a court decision, as mandated by the law.

Taxation in Cyprus attractive for French pensioners, writes Le Figaro

According to the French-Cypriot tax agreement of December 18, 1981, French retirees are not taxed in France but in Cyprus if they decide to establish their residence there. This tax arrangement benefits them as their pensions are exempted up to 3,420 euros per tax year and are then taxed only at a rate of 5%. Additionally, there is no property or inheritance tax in Cyprus. Greece also offers attractive tax measures for retirees, with a unified tax rate of 7% for 15 years for those who establish their tax residence there. To benefit from this system, one does not need to own property in Greece, but only needs to reside there for 183 days a year and belong to a country that has signed a bilateral tax agreement with Greece, such as France.
