20-year-old dies after plunging off Limassol cliff (updated)
A 20-year-old man named Demetris Michael died in a vehicle crash off a cliff in Limassol. The crash occurred in the area of Ayia Phyla and is the fifth fatal accident recorded this year, according to Marios Charalambous, head of Limassol traffic police. The police were alerted to the crash at 7.40pm through a distress call from the victim’s mobile. Emergency services found the overturned vehicle at the scene, and the victim’s body was taken to Limassol hospital where his death was officially pronounced. The vehicle had hit a guardrail, crashed through it, and fell about 50 meters down a ravine. Demetris Michael was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, and there was no evidence of attempts to brake. The circumstances of the crash are under investigation.
