Joining forces in the fight against breast cancer

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women globally, making up one in four cancer cases. It ranks as the second leading cause of death in the European population and the primary cause among cancer patients. Approximately one in eight women in Europe will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. In 2020, over 355,000 cases were recorded in the EU, with Cyprus reporting 700 new cases in women and seven in men annually, including 70 non-invasive cancers, according to the Cyprus Cancer Registry. Efforts in awareness, prevention, and treatment have advanced, with Cyprus implementing new screening programs, extending screening age limits, and upgrading equipment. Europa Donna Cyprus, part of The European Breast Cancer Coalition, offers support and counseling for breast and gynecological cancer patients, promotes patient rights, public awareness, and seeks increased research funding. Bean Bar coffee chain supported Europa Donna Cyprus by donating 10% of its sales revenue during the week of March 4-10, 2024, in conjunction with International Women’s Day.
