Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou stated that the upcoming European parliament and local government elections will be a challenge, but he is confident they will be carried out smoothly. preparations for the elections are already underway, with additional staff hired and information campaigns for voters rolled out. Cyprus will see the creation of 30 ‘local clusters’ for 286 communities to provide aggregated services and support community councils. The Council of Ministers approved an additional €3 million in aid to cover payroll costs for scientific personnel hired by the community clusters.
