No more BMI, diets or , ‘bad’ foods
In Australia, educational resources have been updated to remove hundreds of references to BMI, weight, calories, and diets to prevent eating disorders among children. This change is supported by clinical psychologists specializing in body image and eating disorders due to the link between weight stigma and the development of these disorders. The curriculum overhaul advises teachers to avoid making comments about appearances and to discuss food in terms of its function in the body, without attaching moral values to it.
