Ministry and DEFA seek plan B for gas transportation
The Ministry of Energy and other governmental bodies are unable to determine the completion time of the Vasilikos LNG terminal and the start of using the new fuel for power generation. DEFA’s delayed procedures for selecting a contractor for the gas supply-transmission system plan have caused significant setbacks. The tender for this study has been challenged and is pending in the Administrative Court. As a result, the Ministry of Energy and DEFA are considering alternative options to expedite the construction of gas pipelines to power plants.

The lack of resources has led to a series of disasters and a history of negligence in firefighting efforts. Power to be cut on Friday
The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) announced a scheduled power outage on Friday between 9am and 10am in several areas including Parekklisia Pyrgos, Prasteio Kellakiou, Kellaki, Eptagonia, Melini, Akapnou, Arakapas, Dierona, Sanida, Klavari, Vikla, Ora, Odu, Ayioi Vavatsinias, Profitis Elias, and Sykopetra. The outages are planned due to scheduled work on the high voltage network.
Man arrested for stealing EAC transformer

Despite progress on welding, the jetty remains unfinished due to disagreements between CPP and the Natural Gas Infrastructure Company. CPP terminated collaboration with a Cypriot contractor, causing delays in the project. The completion of the project by the promised deadline of 2024 seems unlikely. Additionally, the construction of the natural gas transportation system is stalled, further prolonging the project. This indicates that the project will take more time and resources than initially anticipated.
