The investigative committee of the Holy Synod continues its work on the issue of the Monastery of Sant Habakkuk in Fterikoudi, with the two monks expected to testify within days.According to Victor Stelios, representing the Secretariat of the Holy Synod, the deposition of the two monks from the Monastery will be taken shortly, and it is not ruled out that this may even take place on-site at the Monastery. This will be decided by the Committee itself, he said.At the moment, Stelios continued to explain the process, after the decision issued by the Seven-Member Synodal Court, the process is now in the hands of the investigative committee of the Holy Synod, which has now initiated proceedings and will subsequently present its findings before the seven-member synodal court. There, he added, the Court will conduct its own proceedings based on the findings to reach a final decision.Asked when the two monks of the Monastery of Habakkuk will be summoned before the investigative committee, Stelios said that the committee acts in its own way and according to its own schedule. As he explained, the investigative committee acts in the manner it deems appropriate, which means that the two monks may possibly testify, either in Nicosia or on-site at the Monastery, depending on the Committee’s decision.Responding to a question, Stelios said that based on the progress of the investigation, other witnesses may also emerge who will be called to testify before the investigative committee. This will be judged and decided by the investigative committee, he continued.Asked if there is a timeline for the completion of the process and the entire case, Stelios said that there is no specific timetable, but the goal remains to complete the process as soon as possible and preferably before Easter. In procedural terms, the investigative committee will have to complete its investigation, and depending on the evidence that emerges, there may be delays, and additional witnesses may be called if deemed necessary. Then, the findings of the investigative committee will be presented to the seven-member Synodal Court for a final decision. On the police level, the investigation into the case continues, as stated by the Police Press Office to CNA. However, as noted, there is currently nothing to announce, except that the investigations are ongoing.Monastery. investigative committee, Monastery of Sant Habakkuk, testimony
