President stresses focus on substance for new Cyprus talks

President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, emphasized on Saturday the importance of resuming talks, noting that the personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Maria Angela Holguín Cuéllar, is working towards this direction.
Speaking to journalists upon his arrival at the facilities of the terminal at Vasilikos and asked about his earlier meeting with Holguín at the Presidential Palace, President Christodoulides stated that they had “a very good meeting,” during which they reviewed the developments of the week while Holguín was in Cyprus.
“We continue to work together, with one and only goal, the resumption of talks, step by step,” he said. “I hope, at least from our side, this political will is expressed to achieve this goal,” he added.
Holguín will return once again, he noted, adding that she will first visit some European capitals.
Responding to a question, he said that he would not like to prejudge or speak publicly about the results of Holguín’s efforts.
“It is neither right nor will we proceed in the Cyprus issue through communication statements. We are interested in substance, and Holguín is working towards the substance, which is the resumption of talks,” President Christodoulides concluded.negotiations. resuming talks, personal envoy, UN Secretary-General
