Cabinet approves grants scheme for agricultural upgrades

The second call for proposals of the grants scheme for the creation, modernization, and digital upgrade of processing or marketing units of agricultural products has been approved by the Ministerial Council, announced by the Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, George Papanastasiou, on Wednesday.
Speaking after the Ministerial Council meeting at the Presidential Palace, Papanastasiou stated that they approved, upon the proposal of his Ministry, the second call for proposals of the grants scheme for the creation, modernization, and digital upgrade of processing or marketing units of agricultural products.
The Scheme falls within the Recovery and Resilience Plan for the period 2021-2026 and amounts to €25 million, he added. He said that this Scheme aims to support existing and new small and medium-sized enterprises, as defined in an annex which interested parties can see in the guide that will be available this week.
According to Papanastasiou, in the first call, approximately €3 million had been saved, which will be used in this second call.
He noted that applications can only be completed by beneficiaries through the electronic system of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry.
Responding to a journalist’s question, he said that it does not necessarily concern only companies but also cooperatives, while the Scheme will cover beekeepers as well.
