In the early hours of this morning, the police carried out new investigations at the Central Prisons based on gathered intelligence.
The searches were focused on two wings, specifically Wing 5 and Wing 2B. According to sources, certain pieces of evidence have been discovered.
Initial reports indicate that police officers, carrying search warrants, visited the prisons and conducted searches in the cells of inmates in the two wings for an hour – from 02:30 a.m. until 03:30 a.m.
All items found during the searches have been confiscated for further examination.
The search was initiated following intelligence gathered about specific individuals convicted of crimes.
These surprise investigations were launched immediately after an arson against a public prosecutor in Paphos.
