The initiative is part of the program of activities of the Volunteering Week
The aim of the Deputy Ministry of Culture is the development of cultural education, the strengthening of children's more active participation and their contact with our modern, traditional and ancient culture, states the responsible Deputy Minister, Vasiliki Kassianidou, who yesterday conducted a children's tour, the which is under the legal care of the state, in the Cyprus Museum.
In her post on the X platform, Ms. Kasianidou talks about a "beautiful experience" she got from yesterday's pilot action by the Deputy Ministry of Culture, which was implemented in collaboration with the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, noting that she met "children who want to meet the our ancient civilization and who are thirsty for new experiences and knowledge".
As she adds, the children's tour of the Cyprus Museum was done by herself, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Marilena Evangelos.
It is noted that this initiative is part of the program of activities of the Volunteering Week, organized by the Pan-Cypriot Volunteering Coordinating Council.
"These kinds of actions prove that they can be the beginning of a series of actions aimed at encouraging young people's contact with our culture," says Ms. Kassianidou.
He adds that "the smile and enthusiasm of the children was the greatest reward and they give us the impetus to expand our planning with the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, for further joint actions, such as visits to museums, archaeological sites and other places of culture".
Finally, she mentions that her Deputy Ministry is trying to build bridges of communication with culture to all socially hindered population groups.
According to information from the Deputy Ministry of Culture, this specific action is a pilot action, which is the starting point for cooperation with the Deputy Ministry of Welfare, with a target group of children, who are under the legal care of the state.
As mentioned, in the context of cultural education, the Deputy Ministry is proceeding with wider planning for the participation and contact of other population groups with the culture of Cyprus and with other competent Ministries, such as the Ministry of Education.
As Ms. Kassianidou wrote in "X":
Children who want to know our ancient civilization and who are thirsty for new experiences and knowledge.
This was my beautiful experience from yesterday's @DepMinCultureCy pilot, implemented in partnership with @WelfareGovCy
The guided tour of children, who are under the legal care of the state, in the Cyprus Museum, was done by me, accompanied by the responsible Deputy Minister @MarilenaEvan.
This initiative is part of the Volunteer Week activity program organized by the Pan-Cypriot Volunteer Coordinating Council @phkarsera.
Such actions prove that they can be the beginning of a series of actions aimed at encouraging the contact of young people with our culture.
The smile and enthusiasm of the children was the greatest reward. They give the impetus to expand our planning with the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, for further joint actions, such as visits to museums, archaeological sites and other places of culture.
Our broader goal as the Deputy Ministry of Culture is the development of cultural education, the strengthening of the more active participation of children and their contact with our modern, traditional and ancient culture.
At the same time, we try to build bridges of communication with culture in all socially hindered population groups.
I sincerely thank the Department of Antiquities for welcoming us and hosting us with the same enthusiasm.
Children who want to know our ancient civilization and who are thirsty for new experiences and knowledge.
