An 11-year-old girl, who went missing on Sunday from Pyrgos, Greece, has been found dead, and a 37-year-old man, reportedly a relative, has confessed to her murder.
The girl’s body was discovered in a field bearing knife wounds to the neck. An amber alert had been issued following her disappearance, which was reported by her mother.
Shortly after the grim discovery, a 37-year-old man believed to be a relative of the victim was taken in for questioning and confessed to the murder.
In 2017, the same man had been charged with the rape of a minor, though it is unclear if he was convicted in that case.
