Lawyer Charalambos Prountzos is leading the race for the Nicosia mayorship, first exit polls showed on Sunday.
According to ALPHA TV, AKEL-backed Prountzos is forecasted to gain between 48%-56%, which is enough to grant him the victory.
DISY’s candidate Nicos Tornaritis, who is also supported by DIKO and DEPA is predicted to win between 34%-42%, while restaurateur Panayiotis “Zanettos” Mentzis is seen garnering 8%-12%.
Constantinos Demetriades, son of former mayor Lellos Demetriades, is polling at 1%-2%.
