We don’t know who came up with this bright idea, but someone needs to tell the Presidential Palace that this whole camera thing before the start of the Cabinet meetings has become a joke.
What purpose does it truly serve beyond the government’s display of power, with the image of the President doling out orders to his ministers, addressing them by their first names? “We have several important issues to discuss, including the Larnaca marina, Alexis (referring to the Minister of Transport), and the next steps we need to take. We must act quickly. We had already started the preliminary work.”
And then, “The second issue, Athena (referring to the Minister of Education), is the amendment to the law that will regulate the establishment and operation of branch campuses of foreign universities, either from member states or third countries, in Cyprus (…)”.
Well, since the outcome of the discussion will be announced at the end of the Cabinet meeting, and the session is closed to the public, what is the point of televising the President’s introduction?
