Euro U17 kicks off, as Cyprus ready to host its biggest football competition

The UEFA European Under-17 Championship finals kick off today in Cyprus, with the marquee youth tournament culminating on June 5.
Sixteen national teams, including host nation Cyprus, will battle for European glory across various Cypriot stadiums.
Cyprus, drawn in Group A alongside the Czech Republic, Ukraine, and Serbia, aim to reach the knockout stages. The top two teams from each group advance to the quarter-finals.
The Cypriot national team opens their campaign today against the Czech Republic at a sold-out AEK Arena, with a passionate home crowd expected. The federal coach, Chrysis Michael, expressed his desire for a competitive performance: “We want to be competitive in all matches and achieve the best possible result in the group stage. We’ve prepared well despite being the smallest nation in the tournament.”
The complete group breakdown is as follows:
