Paphos man, 82, arrested after firing shotgun over loud music complaint; four injured

An 82-year-old man in Paphos faces multiple charges after firing a shotgun into the air in an attempt to stop late-night music from a nearby recreation centre.
The incident resulted in minor injuries to four patrons.
Police were initially called to the scene on Friday night after the man complained about the loud music.
Officers verified the complaint and issued a warning to the establishment’s manager. However, upon their departure, the music resumed, prompting the man to fire a warning shot with his hunting shotgun.
Stray pellets ricocheted, causing minor injuries to four individuals, who received treatment at Paphos General Hospital before being released.
The man was subsequently arrested and faces charges including attempted murder, bodily harm, and firearm offences.
These include attempted murder, carrying a firearm with intent to intimidate, possessing and using a shotgun during a closed hunting season, possessing and transporting explosives, discharging a firearm in a residential area, and causing criminal damage.
