Leading party member Efi Xanthou handed her resignation to the Ecologists – Citizens’ Cooperation Movement last week.
In her letter to the members of the Central Committee, Xanthou speaks of a “highly undemocratic process that was followed at the provincial assembly of Nicosia”, held by the party on March 27, 2024.
She notes that certain candidates were excluded from the voting process, while a candidate was proposed for mayoral support despite not officially being in the running, and another candidate endorsed by the movement as a deputy was notably absent from the ballot altogether.
