{"id":9583,"date":"2024-04-25T15:00:26","date_gmt":"2024-04-25T12:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=9583"},"modified":"2024-04-25T15:00:26","modified_gmt":"2024-04-25T12:00:26","slug":"larnaca-marina-s-kition-no-show-at-committee-not-a-sign-of-disrespect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=9583","title":{"rendered":"Larnaca marina, \u2019s Kition no-show at committee \u2018not a sign of disrespect\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/larnaca-marina-s-kition-no-show-at-committee-not-a-sign-of-disrespect.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Developer Kition Ocean Holdings\u2019 no-show at Wednesday\u2019s House transport committee meeting <strong>should not \u201cbe perceived as a sign of disrespect\u201d<\/strong>, the consortium insisted on Thursday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-1828918849\">\n<div id=\"cypru-1024675082\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-7195731317168-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>They described the situation as a \u201cmisunderstanding\u201d and said their absence from the meeting \u201cdoes not indicate our intentions\u201d.<br \/>\nThey said they had only found out about their invitation to the meeting \u201cafter a relevant report was made in the media\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cBy that time, it was too late for anyone to attend in person. <strong>We tried to attend remotely, but this was not possible<\/strong>.\u201d<br \/>\nThey went on to say they are \u201ccommitted to full transparency and a constructive dialogue with all stakeholders, including MPs\u201d, and that they were ready to meet with the committee at any time in the foreseeable future.<br \/>\nThey added that they are \u201ccommitted to the successful implementation of the Larnaca port and marina restructuring project\u201d, and that they wished to maintain a spirit of cooperation to achieve common goals and ensure the project\u2019s success.<br \/>\nTheir reconciliatory tone contrasts with the combative statement they had issued on Wednesday, in which they had said <strong>they would only proceed with the project \u201cas soon as it <\/strong>gains clarity<strong>\u201d<\/strong>.<br \/>\nTheir dispute with the authorities had come about over a difference in opinion regarding the payment of a financial guarantee. The government expects the company to pay a guarantee to the tune of \u20ac10 million, but the company insists on holding a meeting to discuss the exact amount.<br \/>\nTransport Minister Alexis Vafeades had threatened to take Kition to court over the matter on Tuesday, with Kition only having put forward \u20ac4.2m so far.<br \/>\nKition had agreed a week prior during a meeting with President Nikos Christodoulides to renew its guarantee, but <strong>differences in opinion remain regarding the amount<\/strong>.<br \/>\nVafeades had said on Tuesday that \u201cwe believe that one week is a reasonable time frame for someone to issue a guarantee for this specific amount.\u201d<br \/>\nHe had given Kition until the end of the day to pay the remaining \u20ac5.8m, but Kition remained unmoved.<br \/>\nThe construction licence for the project is set to be issued on Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Developer Kition Ocean Holdings did not attend a House transport committee meeting, but insisted it was not a sign of disrespect.
