World number one Novak Djokovic is considering going without a coach after 20 years in professional\u00a0tennis, the Serb said after receiving the top men\u2019s honour at the Laureus awards.<\/p>\n

The 24-time Grand Slam title-winner ended a five-year partnership with Croatian coach Goran Ivanisevic last month following his third-round exit at Indian Wells.
\nHe had former doubles world number one Nenad Zimonjic with him at the Monte-Carlo Masters earlier this month, but the 36-year-old is pondering whether to navigate this late stage of his\u00a0tennis\u00a0career by himself.
\n\u201cI am considering whether I should or shouldn\u2019t have the coach,\u201d Djokovic said on Monday. \u201cI had a really good time with Zimonjic\u2026 we\u2019re talking about continuing. Let\u2019s see, I\u2019m going to make the decision in the next period.\u201d
\n\u201cIt\u2019s not like I think I don\u2019t need a coach at all. I think there\u2019s always value in having that quality team\u2026 But I think I\u2019m in the stage of my career where I can afford to maybe think having no coach is also an option.\u201d
\nDjokovic also confirmed that he will skip the Madrid Open. \u201cI\u2019m preparing my body to be ready particularly for Roland Garros, Wimbledon, Olympic Games and U.S. Open. That\u2019s the most important block of the year for me.
\n\u201cI\u2019m intending on playing in Rome. This year has been a bit different for me, the start \u2013 I\u2019m still finding my best level of\u00a0tennis. Hopefully that can still come in Roland Garros,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
