The Famagusta district court on Friday sentenced a 45-year-old man to nine months in prison after he was found guilty of a maritime accident that occurred in August 2017 off the coast of Ayia Napa.<\/p>\n
The incident resulted in the serious injury of a woman and minor injuries to another individual.<\/p>\n
According to case details, on August 13, 2017, around noon, a private vessel towing an inflatable chair for water sports near Konnos Bay beach with the 45-year-old at the helm collided with a speedboat.<\/p>\n
The collision caused a 25-year-old woman aboard the inflatable chair to sustain severe injuries.<\/p>\n
Two other women aged 18 and 22, who were also on the inflatable chair, sustained minor injuries.<\/p>\n
The case was brought before the Famagusta district court, which on Friday sentenced the then 45-year-old manoeuvring the vessel to a nine-month prison term.<\/p>\n
