Limassol Nautical Club (LNC) proudly welcomed athletes, coaches, and spectators from around the globe for the thrilling 2nd International Coastal Rowing Beach Sprints, held from April 19th to 21st at the picturesque Malindi Beach. A true celebration of athleticism, camaraderie, and coastal beauty, the event showcased the best of coastal rowing on the beautiful shores of Cyprus. The competition was organised within the framework of Lemesia.
\nWith participation from an impressive 16 countries, including athletes hailing from: Europe, Asia (China and Japan), and beyond, the competition brought together a diverse and talented field of 160 athletes and coaches. Among the participants were Olympians, world champions, and newcomers to the sport, each adding their unique flair to the exhilarating races.
\nThe atmosphere was electric as athletes pushed themselves to the limit in a series of thrilling sprint races, battling the waves and the competition to reach the finish line. From seasoned veterans to rising stars, every participant displayed exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the event.
\nBeach sprints require a combination of strength, endurance, and navigation skills as 2 or 4 athletes compete against each other starting with a 30m sprint on the beach until they reach their boat (single or double), follow a series of slaloms in the water for 500m and finally exit their boats for a sprint run for another 30 meters to the finish line.
\nThe event was not only a showcase of athletic prowess but also a celebration of unity and friendship within the coastal rowing community. Participants and spectators alike were treated to a memorable weekend filled with thrilling races, breathtaking views, and unforgettable moments.
