The ReInHerit European project team announced on Friday the opening of entries for the upcoming ReInHerit Smart Tourism Hackathon.<\/p>\n
According to a statement from the organisers, the event is designed to encourage creativity, collaboration and the celebration of different perspectives and will take place over the weekend of January 20 and 21 at the CYENS Centre of Excellence headquarter in Nicosia.<\/p>\n
The ReInHerit project falls under the umbrella of Horizon Europe, the EU\u2019s key funding programme for research and innovation, tackling climate change and aiming to achieve the UN\u2019s Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n
It aspires to disrupt the current status quo of communication, collaboration and innovation exchange between museums and cultural heritage sites,<\/p>\n
The project also supports creating and better dispersing of excellent knowledge and technologies.<\/p>\n
According to a statement released on Friday, \u201cthe Smart Tourism Hackathon is a unique opportunity for technology enthusiasts and those interested and passionate about heritage and museums and aims to bring together individuals to capture ideas and create innovative solutions about the way we experience museums and heritage sites.\u201d<\/p>\n
Introductory online mentoring workshops on idea submission, business planning and app development will be held between January 8 and 19, where experienced mentors will provide guidance and support, with the times and dates of the workshops expected to be announced in the upcoming days on the competition website.<\/p>\n
The objective of the participants is to develop an app prototype, a business Idea or a game prototype that connects technology to museums or cultural heritage sites,\u00a0enhances the visitor experience, and educates about the content of the museum, the history of its objects and the processes surrounding museums and cultural spaces.<\/p>\n
The the event will offer participants opportunities to network and meet like-minded individuals and professionals, to enhance and develop problem-solving and teamwork skills, as well as an opportunity to highlight diversity. The best ideas will also have the chance to win prizes totalling \u20ac4000.<\/p>\n
