Cyprus Police Association chairman Kyriakos Charalambous resigned with immediate effect<\/strong> on Thursday.<\/p>\n

In his resignation letter, he cited \u201cpersonal issues\u201d and increased professional obligations as reasons for his stepping down from the role.
\nHe said that when he assumed the position seven years ago, he had set \u201cthree clear goals\u201d which \u201cmay have seemed impossible\u201d.
\nDespite this, he said, \u201cthey were achieved with effort and countless hours of work.\u201d
\nThose achievements, he said, include the harmonisation of police hours with the public service and a pension plan for officers who were not covered in the past<\/strong>.
\nHe urged association members to \u201cstay united\u201d so they can continue to serve the association and the police force, \u201cboth guarding and strengthening them\u201d, and added that he will always be by their side.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
