The eagerly-anticipated closing ceremony of the 22nd\u00a0Cyprus Film Days International Festival caps a week filled with cinema, creative exchanges, and strong emotions. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024 <\/strong>at Limassol\u2019s Rialto Theatre.<\/p>\n

This edition wraps up with the screening at 8pm of the new film by acclaimed Cypriot director Adonis Florides, Africa Star. <\/strong>The film focuses on the lives of three generations of Cypriot women \u2013mother, daughter, granddaughter\u2013 whose lives are tragically affected by the act of a man succumbing to temptation.
\nThe screening will be followed by the closing ceremony, curated by Lia Haraki<\/strong>, along with the presentation of the festival\u2019s highest honours. Music and sound design for the ceremony are by Yiannis Christofides<\/strong> with lighting design by Alexander Jotovic<\/strong>. Performance artist PASHIAS<\/strong> will be the presenter of the awards ceremony.
\nThe awards according to the verdict of the five-member international jury will be presented to films featured in the Glocal Images<\/strong> International Competition Section <\/strong>and the Cypriot Films Competition Section.<\/strong> The jury is presided over by Slovak film producer Katarina Tomkova<\/strong>, accompanied by fellow jury members Berlin-based Cypriot Director of Photography Emre Erkmen<\/strong>, French film critic Sandra Onana<\/strong>, Greek director and writer Asimina Proedrou<\/strong> and Berlin-based Palestinian filmmaker Juna Suleiman<\/strong>.
\nSeven films in the Glocal Images international competition section<\/strong> and four Cypriot films<\/strong> are eligible for the Best Film Award (\u20ac6000)<\/strong>, the Special Jury Award (\u20ac3000)<\/strong>, the Best Director Award (\u20ac1000)<\/strong> and the Best Cinematography Award (\u20ac500), <\/strong>the latter sponsored by Caretta Films<\/strong>. Films in the national competition section also compete for the Best Cypriot Film Award (\u20ac4000) <\/strong>accompanied by the right to use The Studio (sponsored by The CYENS Centre of Excellence*<\/strong>), the Best Cypriot Director Award (post-production services worth \u20ac4000, sponsored by Authorwave) <\/strong>and Best Performance Award in a Cypriot Film (\u20ac1000), sponsored by Limassol Municipality.<\/strong>
\n*The CYENS Centre of Excellence prize includes two days of filming in The Studio, free of charge, with access to the massive LED wall, powered by Unreal Engine, Evercoast\u2019s volumetric capturing, and PhaseSpace\u2019s precision motion capture system, worth \u20ac10,000.
\nAll 11 films automatically compete for the Audience Award<\/strong> (\u20ac500),<\/strong> sponsored by TFI Markets<\/strong>, determined by viewer votes.
\nAnother highlight of the ceremony will be the presentation of awards for the feature film projects participating in the 5th\u00a0co-production forum Dot.on.the.Map Meeting Point.<\/strong>
\nThis year, the international jury for Dot.on.the.Map is made up of producers C\u00e9cile Tollu-Polonowski <\/strong>(The Match Factory, Germany \u2013 France), Yorgos Tsourgiannis<\/strong> (Horsefly Films, Greece) and Anita Elsani<\/strong> (Elsani & Neary Media GmbH, Germany).
\nThe projects are competing for the Cyprus Film Commission \u2013 Invest Cyprus<\/strong> Award <\/strong>(\u20ac1000<\/strong>) sponsored by the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency, the P.S. Movies and Stories<\/strong> Awards<\/strong> (equipment rental worth up to \u20ac4000), the Best Debut Project Pitch Award<\/strong> (\u20ac500) sponsored by the Directors Guild of Cyprus, and the Agora Networking Award<\/strong> offered by Thessaloniki International Film Festival. All the film projects showcased on the co-production forum are also eligible for the Coprocity Development Award<\/strong> (\u20ac3500) offered annually in collaboration with Cineuropa.
\nThe awards ceremony will be followed by an exciting closing party <\/strong>on Heroes\u2019 Square, with music selections by DJ Bon Bon<\/strong>.
