{"id":8154,"date":"2024-04-14T15:01:14","date_gmt":"2024-04-14T12:01:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=8154"},"modified":"2024-04-14T15:01:14","modified_gmt":"2024-04-14T12:01:14","slug":"the-people-who-never-give-up-president-launches-charity-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=8154","title":{"rendered":"The people who never give up: President launches charity march"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/the-people-who-never-give-up-president-launches-charity-march.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>We all admire the strength of people who never give up<\/strong>, President Nikos Christodoulides said on Sunday launching the annual Christodoula\u2019s charity march.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-613899427\">\n<div id=\"cypru-1141243807\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-2097708717892-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Held for the 49<sup>th<\/sup> year, the annual event, sponsored by the Bank of Cyprus, raises funds for the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is with great emotion that I participate in today\u2019s event,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nWe all admire the strength of Christodoula\u2019s soul, he said, referring to the woman from Ayios Memnonas in Famagusta, after whom the march is named, \u201cbut also the strength of every person who fights with stubbornness and optimism, who never gives up.\u201d<br \/>\nAlthough she had cancer, Christodoula was forced from her home like many others by the Turkish invasion. <strong>Starting out on foot, she left her home and walked to Sotira where she died under a tree<\/strong>.<br \/>\n\u201cShe may have been defeated by cancer in the tragic circumstances of the invasion,\u201d Christodoulides said, \u201cbut her passion and will to live became a symbol and an example for all of us.\u201d<br \/>\nHe also praised the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society for providing support services and palliative care, information, education, research and promotion of patients\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fact: Christodoula&#8217;s charity march is held annually for the 49th year and raises funds for the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society.
