{"id":7830,"date":"2024-04-11T21:01:10","date_gmt":"2024-04-11T18:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=7830"},"modified":"2024-04-11T21:01:10","modified_gmt":"2024-04-11T18:01:10","slug":"doctors-verbally-attacked-because-patients-are-uninformed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=7830","title":{"rendered":"Doctors , \u2018verbally attacked\u2019 because patients are uninformed"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/doctors-verbally-attacked-because-patients-are-uninformed.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Doctors and other Gesy service providers are \u201con the end of verbal attacks\u201d<\/strong> because patients are uninformed, House health committee chairman Efthimios Diplaros said on Thuesday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-1361945712\">\n<div id=\"cypru-657461383\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-2405312053426-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Speaking at the committee meeting, he said verbal attacks are being launched by \u201cpatients who are not sufficiently informed about their rights and obligations.\u201d<br \/>\nHe added, \u201cit has been established that in too many cases, Gesy service providers blame the health insurance organisation (HIO) or say Gesy will not let them fulfil a request made by a patient that they believe is unjustified.\u201d<br \/>\nHe also said both the friends of patients\u2019 associations (Osak) and doctors have recorded cases of abuse against doctors, <strong>including verbal attacks and threats<\/strong>.<br \/>\n\u201cSome people are forcing doctors to do the tests they want to do. This cannot be tolerated and cannot continue,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n\u201cDoctors are attacked by patients who do not know their rights and obligations,\u201d he said, pointing out that the lack of information creates long waiting lists and cases in which patients wish to see two doctors within an hour of each other as \u201cthey feel they can demand more than they are entitled to.\u201d<br \/>\nThese incidents, he said, amount to \u201c<strong>abuses and distortions which can and must be corrected<\/strong> now five years have passed since Gesy was implemented.\u201d<br \/>\nLooking to how the matter can be corrected, he said the creation of a \u201cpatient advocate\u201d would solve several problems. To this end, he said he has been informed by Health Minister Michael Damianos that the bill to create one is \u201cat an advanced stage\u201d.<br \/>\nIn addition, he said there are already specialist groups examining patient complaints in contracted hospitals, and that state health services (Okypy) are about to launch \u201cpatient service offices\u201d in all public hospitals.<br \/>\nHowever, he said, \u201cwe want Okypy to send us timetables for these to be implemented.\u201d<br \/>\nHe added that his committee has already freed up <strong>over \u20ac1 million for the HIO to carry out an information campaign<\/strong> regarding patients\u2019 rights and said \u201cpatients urgently need to be informed and acquire the correct culture.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Doctors and other Gesy service providers are facing verbal attacks from uninformed patients.
