{"id":7480,"date":"2024-04-09T17:00:08","date_gmt":"2024-04-09T14:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=7480"},"modified":"2024-04-09T17:00:08","modified_gmt":"2024-04-09T14:00:08","slug":"govt-still-searching-for-new-medicine-storage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=7480","title":{"rendered":"Govt still searching for new medicine storage"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/govt-still-searching-for-new-medicine-storage.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>The government is still searching for a new premises<\/strong> in which to store medicines, spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-1764511681\">\n<div id=\"cypru-1933624379\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-1697802657322-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Speaking to journalists, he said Health Minister Michael Damianos is working in \u201cclose cooperation\u201d with Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades to \u201cfind a suitable state-owned location, if there can be one.\u201d<br \/>\nLetymbiotis also insisted that the government had already been looking at new premises prior to the flood which destroyed large quantities of medicine at the current premises, costing over \u20ac880,000, during inclement weather in March.<br \/>\nHe added, \u201crest assured, as a government, we have repeatedly said that this matter must be fully investigated. <strong>We must look at why this happened<\/strong>.\u201d<br \/>\nHis words come after a multi-page report was submitted to Damianos on Monday, after it emerged that the current premises were leased by his ministry to a private contractor for \u20ac6,600 per year, and then re-leased back to his ministry for \u20ac135,000 per year \u2013 <strong>a markup of more than 2,000 per cent<\/strong>.<br \/>\nDamianos on Monday made assurances that there is currently no shortage of medicines, and that Cyprus\u2019 medicine supply would not be hit by the flood.<br \/>\n\u201cThe ministry has the mechanisms both locally and internationally to ensure the supply of medicine,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The government is searching for new premises to store medicines.
