{"id":7254,"date":"2024-04-07T21:00:45","date_gmt":"2024-04-07T18:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=7254"},"modified":"2024-04-07T21:00:45","modified_gmt":"2024-04-07T18:00:45","slug":"efforts-to-roll-out-palliative-care-in-gesy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=7254","title":{"rendered":"Efforts to roll out palliative care in Gesy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/efforts-to-roll-out-palliative-care-in-gesy.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Efforts are underway to <strong>develop the National Cancer Institute<\/strong>, as well as a legal framework to offer palliative care through Gesy, Health Minister Michael Damianos said on Sunday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-1278301793\">\n<div id=\"cypru-327501583\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-7428083735866-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Speaking to attendees during the 49<sup>th<\/sup> Christodoula march kickoff in Limassol, he highlighted the importance of the event is to raise awareness over preventing, diagnosing and dealing with cancer.<br \/>\n\u201cOn a practical level, the Christodoula march is perhaps the most valuable support activity of the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association, since it significantly strengthens the association\u2019s financial resources every year\u201d, he added.<br \/>\nDamianos underlined the <strong>EU has established the need to introduce palliative care<\/strong> into all strategic plans related to chronic diseases. As such, Cyprus has moved in the same direction, he said.<br \/>\nThe Arodafnousa palliative care center, by the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association, \u201cis a modern hospital, which, in addition to palliative care, offers various reintegration programs, which are scientifically proven to offer quality and prolong life,\u201d he told attendees.<br \/>\nAs such, \u201cactions are being promoted for the development of the National Cancer Institute, which will coordinate all cancer services.\u201d<br \/>\nThe project will <strong>offer a range of benefits for cancer patients<\/strong> with a holistic approach and the best possible help, from early prevention, to treatment and palliative care, Damianos underlined.<br \/>\nFurthermore, the ministry is preparing the legal framework to provide palliative care services to sick patients, with the aim of including them in Gesy.<br \/>\nChairwoman of the association\u2019s Limassol district committee Betty Antoniadou, said the purpose behind the march \u201cis to remind everyone of the importance to support people with cancer.\u201d<br \/>\nThe slogan for the second-year running is \u201cbe there\u201d which is what the association does, Antoniadou underlined.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Efforts are underway to develop the National Cancer Institute and establish a legal framework to offer palliative care through Gesy in Cyprus.
