{"id":7174,"date":"2024-04-06T21:00:45","date_gmt":"2024-04-06T18:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=7174"},"modified":"2024-04-06T21:00:45","modified_gmt":"2024-04-06T18:00:45","slug":"local-government-reform-in-final-stretch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=7174","title":{"rendered":"Local government reform , \u2018in final stretch\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/local-government-reform-in-final-stretch.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>Local government reform is now \u201cin the final stretch\u201d<\/strong>, Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou said on Saturday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-340613462\">\n<div id=\"cypru-1576149541\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-8524065606844-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Speaking to mukhtars, he said he described the reforms as \u201clong-awaited, radical, and ambitious\u201d, and stated his belief that they will offer \u201ca significant upgrade and modernisation of local authorities\u201d.<br \/>\nThis, he said, will \u201cgive local authorities the leading role they deserve\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cOur goal with these changes is to help local communities to develop efficiently through the planning and implementation of policies and the use of opportunities afforded to us to access European Union funds by promoting programmes which <strong>strengthen sectors such as the environment, the digital transition, and agrotourism<\/strong>,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nWith preparations for the reform now in their \u201cfinal stretch\u201d, he said that \u201cby July 1, as many pending matters as possible will be completed and the clustering of communities will be done smoothly and without major problems.\u201d<br \/>\nHe said preparation of areas which are to be clustered into larger local authorities is \u201cprogressing according to the schedules which have been set.\u201d<br \/>\nAt the same time, he said his ministry \u201cis continuing without interruption the <strong>implementation of developmental infrastructure in rural areas<\/strong>.\u201d<br \/>\nThis infrastructure, he said, \u201cdemonstrates the importance the government attaches to the recovery and development of the countryside and mountainous areas.\u201d<br \/>\nHe added that his ministry \u201caims for the continuous upgrading of the quality of life of people living in villages and the modernisation of the services provided by utilising modern technology.\u201d<br \/>\nTo this end, he said the government aims to \u201c<strong>reduce the phenomenon of urbanism\u201d \u2013 in other words, protect the countryside and limit the number of people moving to large conurbations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou stated that local government reform is in the final stretch.
