{"id":6550,"date":"2024-04-02T16:01:01","date_gmt":"2024-04-02T13:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=6550"},"modified":"2024-04-02T16:01:01","modified_gmt":"2024-04-02T13:01:01","slug":"uk-shop-prices-rise-at-slowest-pace-since-december-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=6550","title":{"rendered":"UK shop prices rise at slowest pace since December 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/uk-shop-prices-rise-at-slowest-pace-since-december-2021.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>Prices in British shops rose at the slowest pace in more than two years in March, the British Retail Consortium (BRC) said on Tuesday, adding to signs that the country\u2019s inflation squeeze is now fading fast.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-1952499998\">\n<div id=\"cypru-2126681565\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-3543465720511-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Shop price inflation dropped to 1.3 per cent from 2.5 per cent in February, the smallest annual increase since December 2021, the BRC said.<br \/>\nFood prices rose by 3.7 per cent, down from 5.0 per cent, while non-food prices rose by just 0.2 per cent, slowing from a 1.3 per cent increase in February.<br \/>\nThe Bank of England expects Britain\u2019s headline rate of inflation to dip below 2 per cent in the April-to-June period, helped in large part by further falls in energy costs.<br \/>\nInvestors at the end of last week were putting a roughly 50 per cent chance on the BoE cutting interest rates in June for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. A cut in August was fully priced into interest rate future markets.<br \/>\nBRC Chief Executive Helen Dickinson said the slowing of inflation was linked to competition among retailers, falling dairy prices and bargain offers on popular chocolate brands even as the price of some Easter treats rose in annual terms.<br \/>\n\u201cWhile these figures are good news for consumers, from this month, retailers face significant increased cost pressures that could put progress on bringing down inflation at risk,\u201d Dickinson said.<br \/>\nShe listed rising business taxes, expensive recycling proposals, new post-Brexit border checks and a nearly 10 per cent increase in Britain\u2019s minimum wage from this month as extra costs for shops.<br \/>\nThe BRC data was based on prices collected between March 1 and March 7.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prices in British shops rose at the slowest pace in more than two years in March, with shop price inflation dropping to 1.3 per cent from 2.5 per cent in February.
