{"id":6444,"date":"2024-04-01T18:01:14","date_gmt":"2024-04-01T15:01:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=6444"},"modified":"2024-04-01T18:01:14","modified_gmt":"2024-04-01T15:01:14","slug":"kremlin-dismisses-report-russia-behind-havana-syndrome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=6444","title":{"rendered":"Kremlin dismisses report Russia behind , \u2018Havana Syndrome\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/kremlin-dismisses-report-russia-behind-havana-syndrome.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>The Kremlin on Monday dismissed a report that Russian military intelligence may be behind the mysterious \u201cHavana syndrome\u201d ailment that has afflicted U.S. diplomats and spies globally.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-1937758833\">\n<div id=\"cypru-1262640469\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-5356454300308-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Insider, a Russia-focused investigative media group based in Riga, Latvia reported that members of a Russian military intelligence (GRU) unit known as 29155 had been placed at the scene of reported health incidents involving U.S. personnel.<br \/>\nThe year-long Insider investigation in collaboration with 60 Minutes and Germany\u2019s Der Spiegel also reported that senior members of Unit 29155 received awards and promotions for work related to the development of \u201cnon-lethal acoustic weapons\u201d.<br \/>\n\u201cThis is not a new topic at all; for many years the topic of the so-called \u2018Havana Syndrome\u2019 has been exaggerated in the press, and from the very beginning it was linked to accusations against the Russian side,\u201d Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters when asked about the report.<br \/>\n\u201cBut no one has ever published or expressed any convincing evidence of these unfounded accusations anywhere,\u201d Peskov said. \u201cTherefore, all this is nothing more than baseless, unfounded accusations by the media.\u201d<br \/>\nA U.S. intelligence investigation whose findings were released last year found that it was \u201cvery unlikely\u201d a foreign adversary was responsible for the ailment, first reported by U.S. embassy officials in the Cuban capital Havana in 2016.<br \/>\nSymptoms of the ailment have included migraines, nausea, memory lapses and dizziness.<br \/>\nThe Insider report said the first incident of \u201cHavana Syndrome\u201d symptoms may have happened earlier than 2016.<br \/>\nIt said \u201cthere were likely attacks two years earlier in Frankfurt, Germany, when a U.S. government employee stationed at the consulate there was knocked unconscious by something akin to a strong energy beam\u201d.<br \/>\nU.S. Congress passed the Havana Act in 2021 authorising the State Department, CIA and other U.S. government agencies to provide payments to staff and their families affected by the ailment during assignment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8211;
