Ioannou on Sunday said that the government \u201c<strong>can see signs of a potential solution to the Cyprus problem<\/strong> in the near future.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-332082138\">\n<div id=\"cypru-353981515\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-3802403142424-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>He was speaking at the national and religious memorial for the anniversaries of March 25, 1821, and April 1, 1955, in Nicosia on Sunday.<br \/>\nIoannou stressed the government\u2019s primary objective to attain a comprehensive solution for Cyprus, entailing the withdrawal of occupying troops, safeguarding human rights, and establishing a solution that is dignified, functional, and sustainable.<br \/>\n\u201c<strong>Such a resolution would foster the reunification of people and create conditions for peace<\/strong>, justice, development, and prosperity, recognising Cyprus\u2019 significance as a pillar of stability and security in the region.\u201d Ioannou said.<br \/>\nHe highlighted President Nikos Christodoulides\u2019 persistent efforts in pursuing initiatives to <strong>promptly restart negotiations<\/strong> for a fair and sustainable settlement of the Cyprus problem.<br \/>\nThe Interior Minister also credited Christodoulides\u2019 \u201crelentless endeavours and political determination\u201d for the appointment of the personal envoy of the UN Secretary-General Maria Holguin, as well as the tangible support of the European and international community.<br \/>\nDespite acknowledging realities and challenges, Ioannou reiterated the government\u2019s steadfast commitment to achieving a comprehensive settlement in Cyprus.<br \/>\n\u201cWe expect that in the immediate future we will have indications as to whether our goal will be achieved, so that we can, through dialogue, deliver to the new generation a prosperous homeland free from occupation,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nFinally, he stressed that <strong>finding a solution is \u201ca national obligation<\/strong> to those who
