{"id":6316,"date":"2024-03-31T19:01:23","date_gmt":"2024-03-31T16:01:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=6316"},"modified":"2024-03-31T19:01:23","modified_gmt":"2024-03-31T16:01:23","slug":"christodoulides-to-meet-halloumi-stakeholders-in-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=6316","title":{"rendered":"Christodoulides to meet halloumi stakeholders in April"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/christodoulides-to-meet-halloumi-stakeholders-in-april.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>President Nikos Christodoulides will hold a meeting with \u201call those involved in the production of halloumi\u201d<\/strong> in April, Agriculture Minister Maria Panayiotou said on Sunday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"cypru-video-ads\" id=\"cypru-651491560\">\n<div id=\"cypru-1899823420\" data-cypru-trackid=\"478051\" data-cypru-trackbid=\"1\" class=\"cypru-target\">\n<div id=\"gpt-ad-2943726756000-0\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), she said the government has approved a new set of regulations regarding geographical indications and quality assurance of products, which will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union in the coming days.<br \/>\nAmong the provisions foreseen in the new regulations is permission to extend the transitional period regarding milk ratios in protected designation of origin (PDO) halloumi by five years.<br \/>\nGoat and sheep milk was initially stipulated to make up half of PDO halloumi by this July, but <strong>that deadline has now been put back to 2029<\/strong>. At present, in line with the current stage of transition, it makes up 25 per cent.<br \/>\nPanayiotou said the government has already made contact with all groups, and that there is \u201cno other option but to find a consensus, as our common goal must be for everyone to protect PDO halloumi.\u201d<br \/>\nCattle breeders had applied to the European Court of Justice in February to strip halloumi of its PDO status with the aim of avoiding a reduction in the ratio of cow\u2019s milk in the dairy product but were unsuccessful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fact:
