{"id":6232,"date":"2024-03-30T20:01:26","date_gmt":"2024-03-30T18:01:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=6232"},"modified":"2024-03-30T20:01:26","modified_gmt":"2024-03-30T18:01:26","slug":"truth-will-shine-over-monastery-scandal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/?p=6232","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Truth will shine\u2019 over monastery scandal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ch.jfdi.cc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/truth-will-shine-over-monastery-scandal.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<p>The truth will shine soon enough over the ongoing Osiou Avakoum scandal, Tamassos Bishop Isaias said on Saturday.<br \/>\nHe underlined he would not engage in a public spat over the matter and stressed he had complete trust in the Holy Synod and police.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are carefully watching everything that is falsely being said as part of an effort to affect public opinion and ongoing investigations,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n\u201cWe will not go down this path.\u201d<br \/>\nThe Holy Synod has appointed a six-member committee to investigate allegations that two monks at the Osiou Avakoum monastery <strong>scammed thousands of euros out of believers. <\/strong><br \/>\nSources earlier this week said the committee was working at a \u2018feverish pace\u2019 on the matter.<br \/>\nThe monks however have written to the committee to say it should be scrapped, accusing Bishop Isaias of going against standard procedure.<br \/>\nPolice have also been criticised over its handling of the case, as no arrests have been made yet.<br \/>\nThe monks\u00a0were allegedly found with \u20ac800,000 in cash, and property in Greece and Limassol.
